Cell towers by state

The FCC records 137,549 cell towers and other registered antenna sites across the 50 states and the District of Columbia, as of 2026-09-23 (138,364 including US territories). Texas has the most, at 14,342, followed by California and Florida. Each state page lists who owns the towers there, which carriers are named on the record, the cities with the most sites and the tallest structures.

The counts include every antenna structure registered with the FCC that is built and still standing, which covers TV and radio masts and utility towers as well as cell sites, plus carriers' licensed cellular sites that are too short to need registration. Small cells and most rooftop antennas are not included. To find the towers around a specific place, use the cell tower finder.

Carriers on the record

Verizon is named on 14,048 sites, AT&T is named on 6,695 sites and T-Mobile is named on 3,831 sites. Verizon's largest count is in Texas (1,445). AT&T's largest count is in Texas (650). T-Mobile's largest count is in California (658). These figures are far below each carrier's real site count, because most towers are owned by tower companies such as American Tower, Crown Castle and SBA, and the FCC record names the owner, not the tenants. A carrier appears only when it owns the structure or lists the site on its 850 MHz cellular licence.

How to read the table

Registered sites is every built, standing structure in the state's FCC records, from 60-foot monopoles near airports to broadcast masts over 1,000 feet. The carrier columns count the sites where that carrier is named. A big state count with low carrier numbers usually means most towers there belong to tower companies or to broadcasters and utilities. District of Columbia has the fewest registered sites, at 28. Open a state for its owners, its top cities with a link to the towers around each, and its tallest structures.
